The Maritime Chapter of the Risk and Insurance Management Society, Inc. functions as a regional division of RIMS, the risk management society and serves members in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Prince Edward Island.
The purposes of the Chapter include:
- providing opportunities for dialogue, education, advancement, and improvement in the risk management discipline through meetings, seminars, communications, publications, and other programs and activities;
- articulating and advocating the interests of the risk management discipline before legislative, administrative, and judicial branches of government; and
- promulgating policies and conducting activities for the betterment of all those individuals or organizations involved in some aspect of the risk management discipline.
- Further, the Chapter shall support and adhere to the objectives, code of ethics, and other standards established by the Association for the advancement of Risk Management.
Our vision and mission:
The Maritime Chapter's vision is to create inclusive, connected, supportive and prosperous network of risk management professional. Our mission is to engage members of the risk management community by offering networking and professional development opportunities.

The board is elected annually, following an Annual Membership Meeting held in April.
Through the RCC, the Chapter provides representation to the RIMS Canada Council, a committee of the Risk and Insurance Management Society, Inc (RIMS).
